The building of Copper Nickel Events was originally owned and operated by John M. Browning of Browning Firearms. John Browning is certainly one of the most famous and celebrated firearms inventor of his time and many of his prototypes and inventions are still in use today.
What makes Copper Nickel the most unique and valuable events center in the state of Utah? Our building was the main test fire and manufacturing facility of prototypes for the 1911 Military sidearm, which is still the most widely used hand gun today and the 50 Caliber machine gun. The original test fire shield is still located in the kitchen of the building and stands as a reminder of our buildings history which influenced not only the city of Ogden, the state of Utah, but more importantly; the world.
The French and British troops used the 50 Caliber machine gun at the Battle of Britain during World War 2 and we, as allies, were able to shoot down over 18,000 German planes. This was because we had more fire power and the Browning machine gun was the cause of this monumental win. The German troops retreated back to Russia and the Allies were able to advance and change the course of the war.
Here at Copper Nickel Events, we love to celebrate the rich history of our Event Center and invite those with any kind of celebration to experience and become part of the history of Browning. Celebrate with us today
